We recommend use of heavy hex and jam nuts to ensure sufficient
thread engagement lengths. This would require
minimum thread lengths to be approximately
1 1/2 to 2 times the nominal thread diameter.
The comparisons in these charts are based
on a design factor of 5 using XIP IWRC wire
rope minimum breaking forces for 6 x 19 and
6 x 37 classification ropes, aircraft cables
and carbon steel fittings.
